About

Evolving from Chinese brush painting to watercolours and oil painting of sceneries and flowers, my art has resolved into more abstract oil paintings that hinges on colours as well as geometric forms that dominate urban landscapes. Since 2011, it has progressed from 2D works into 3D sculptures and installations.

This shift in media allows me to explore elemental effects on contemporary materials that frolic with visual phenomena to draw our attention on questions of human perception and reality.

Technological advancement and globalism have culturally shifted our society into a lifestyle of convenience. With capitalism that ensnares us into the planned obsolete culture, we are choking the earth with massive loads of non-perishable products. Thus, impacting the earth in a vicious cycle.

This dumping habit has swayed my current art trajectory. Since I have a fascination in the wonders of this world, particularly light and its properties, it is not surprising that my sculptural constructs are a fusion between societal detritus and the cutting edge materials like reflective mirrors and Perspex. Such materials enhance the mystic with a heighten elemental enigma.

Working with both the organic and manufactured materials, my work intersects our contemporary lifestyles with the phenomena of the universe. It is this convergence of nature and the manufactured that underpins my exploration in the interconnections of systems to deliberate on ecological and societal interdependencies.

Within the pristine sculptures that rendered optical sensations, my art seeks to promote the contemplation on the relationships between perception and reality, the organic and the manufactured as well as the visible and the invisible.
